Happy Thanksgiving To All!!!
Happy Thanksgiving to our dearest members, sponsors, and supporters of the Waraynon Initiative Network! There is no time more fitting to say thank you, and I would like to take a moment to do just that.
This past July, WIN held its third summer benefit concert, Halad, in support of our upcoming medical mission next year in Tacloban, Philippines. The resounding success of Halad was made possible with the support of our sponsors, major donors, performers, crew, volunteers, and audiences. Our sponsors and donors were all too happy to help once they heard about the plans for our upcoming medical mission and the concert’s role in raising funds for the project. Like any concert, it takes many groups working together to execute a vision and mission. Some traveled from afar to perform in the concert, and some traveled through the usual heavy SoCal traffic to attend rehearsals. All took the time out of their schedules to memorize music, choreography, and more. On the day of the concert, we had many volunteers ready to greet guests, prepare food, and work behind the scenes to ensure the concert ran smoothly. Lastly, our audience for both shows bore witness to the culmination of WIN’s efforts.
We are grateful for everyone who has been involved with Halad. With the proceeds from the concert dedicated to the medical mission, we are gearing up to host this next project in the summer of next year. Halad, which means ‘Offering’, was the start of our fundraising efforts. Everyone’s contributions to the concert, whether big or small, are deeply appreciated by WIN. We are thankful for everyone’s ‘offering’, and we hope to see continual support as we solidify our planning for the medical mission.
Once again, wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting WIN!
Sincerely,
Lori Bañez-Vergara, Chairman of the Board
Third commemoration of Super Typhoon Yolanda – We Remember
On this third commemoration of Super Typhoon Yolanda, WARAYNON INITIATIVE NETWORK (WIN) would like to pay homage to the thousands of named and unnamed men, women and children who perished in its fury, and honor & inspire the families they left behind.
It is amazing to see how faith, hope and love have made the human spirit rise from the rubble. Although, there has been a marked sense of normalcy, WIN is committed in the coming years to help and reach out to those in need.
In the words of Pope Francis during his homily at the Papal Mass in Tacloban, “…with the power that comes from Jesus’ love on the cross, let us move forward, always forward, and walk together as brothers and sisters in the Lord.”
A Moment of Grace
